REPORT PAGE FOR: Joe, USA

First seed start: Sowed 8 Feb 2009

On February 8, 2009 I planted seeds from 5 different Chirita species that I had obtained from the Gesneriad Society Seed Fund. I planted the following species:

C. linearifolia
C. longgangensis
C. lutea
C. sp 'Phuket'
C. subrhomboidea

I used a long clear deli style container, I divided the container lengthwise and used my regular 1-1-1 soiless mix in one half and used straight coir in the other half to see if there would be a difference in germination/growing rate between the 2 different medias. I then put in additional dividers fo the individual species seeds.

This container was then put on my light stand a few inches below the lights (2 T12 40w cool white flourescent tubes) with approx 13 hours of light per day. The average room temperature is between 74-78F during the day and between 70-74F during the night.
