REPORT PAGE FOR: Warren, New York USA Report: 7 March 2003 More reports: 12 May 2003 I received the seeds on February 7th, 2003. They where sown on February 10th, 2003 The container I used for the seeds is a clear plastic bakery box. The holes where burnt through the top side of the box for ventilation. These boxes are good for a mini greenhouse to plant seeds. I used my regular violet mix which contains one part Pro-Mix Pro, two parts Perlite and one part vermiculite. To this I added about a table spoon of horticultural charcoal. The soil was slightly moist. Seeds where laid on top of the soil and a fine mist was prayed on top. The box was then closed. Every couple of days I opened the box to release the excess condensation. When the top of the soil started to feel on a dry side, I sprayed with warm water which contained superthrive and fertilizer. The amount of fertilizer used was the same mix as my plants. On Wednesday February 19th, 2003 My wife noticed little green dots. Closer examination showed that these where baby plants. The babies are slow growers. I have no plans to force them. The pictures I sent you where taken Friday February 21st, 2003. I do not know how well they will survive. The weather here in New York has been crazy. In January the temperature hovered between 7 degrees F in the evening and in the low twenties in the during the day. Last Monday we had 28 inches of snow. Yesterday we had about 2 1/2 inches of rain. In inside temperature has ranged from 58 degrees to 75 degrees. Next week they are predicting more snow. Go figure.
