Project concept: Growing plants from African violet leaves

Three different leaves were sent out for this project:

• 1 Silverglade standard mystery leaf
• 1 Tracey semiminiature mystery leaf
• 1 grow-for-fun leaf, by request or chosen by sender

The Silverglade standard leaf was revealed to be Silverglade Chimes (S. Harrison) and the Tracey semiminiature leaf was revealed to be Surprise Party (P. Tracey). The third leaf was not included in the actual project.

A 'Name The Show Plants'-contest was held in March 2002, before the true names of the show plants were released. Out of five entrants, four had correctly named the Tracey semiminiature. A contest winner was justly drawn from these four. There were no correct guesses for the Silverglade standard.
